WABTEC Shipping Coordinator in Warren, Ohio
Verifies quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products and items of merchandise ready for shipment by performing the following duties.
Essentail Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Run picksheets to determine what product is available to ship.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Ensures materials and equipment is in proper place throughout the work area, as needed, to ensure customer demand on schedule.
Interfaces with other departments in the organization to ensure customer demand on schedule.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Including weighing 30% of incoming containers.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of work area and environment.
Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
Posts weight and shipping charges.
Prepares bills of lading.
Backs up the Shipping and Receiving Clerk.
Ensures areas are maintained to 5S principles.
Participate in Kaizen and TPM activities as assigned.
Follow all proper PPE and OSHA requirements for assigned area. Participate in all safety activities, meetings, and training sessions.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to a year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 pounds
Ability to work in an environment of extreme heat.
