UPMC Professional Staff Nurse - 2 West Med/Surg in Farrell, Pennsylvania
Purpose:UPMC Horizonis currently hiring a Full Time Professional Staff Nurse to support the 2 West Medical/Surgical unit. 2 West is a 28 bed medical/surgical and telemetry unit. We typically care for adult and geriatric patients. We are able to take pediatric patients although it is very rare that we get pediatric patients (medical reason age 13 and over/surgical reason 10 and over). Nurses are required to have ACLS, BLS, BAC, and PALs is preferred but not required. We are open to taking new grads looking to start their nursing career with a great team!Our RNs work a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. Six months experience is required for Professional Staff Nurses; Graduate Nurses may be hired at the Staff Nurse level until required experience is obtained (minimum salary for GNs is $22.55 per hour). Minimum six months of RN experience.BSN preferred.
Graduate Nurses that are eligible for the State Board Licensure and Staff Nurses with nursing experience will be considered for this position. Please note that the below salary may vary pending years of experience and education of the selected candidate. Minimum salary for a Graduate Nurse is 22.55 per hour. Must be able to demonstrate: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Employee must obtain required CPR/ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications within 1 year of hire/transfer PALS preferred
